Rhubarb and Rose Gin & Tonic

Some pairings make so much sense once you taste them. Rose and rhubarb is one of them.
Runaway Rose, our blend of elderflower, rose, lavender and vanilla, brings soft and floral notes with a honeyed edge. It meets botanical gin and East Imperial Rhubarb Tonic, which is delightfully tart and lightly bitter, with a citrus lift from lime cane. Perfect for long afternoons on the deck or evening dinners in the garden.
Ingredients (makes 1)
40 ml gin (preferably floral/botanical leaning)
100 ml sparkling Runaway Rose tea (see method below)
Top up with East Imperial Rhubarb Tonic (roughly one bottle), well chilled
Ice
Dried rose petals to garnish
Sparkling Runaway Rose: Add 4 tea temples to a bottle of 1 litre bottle of sparkling water and seal. Leave in the fridge for 4 hours. Remove the tea temples. Consume within 24 hours, while it retains the fizz.
Method
- Fill a tumbler or highball with ice
- Pour in the gin, then the sparkling Runaway Rose
- Add the Rhubarb Tonic slowly, to keep the bubbles
- Give it one gentle stir and garnish with a few dried rose petals
Note: for a non-alcoholic version, leave out the gin and use 140 ml of the sparkling tea with the tonic.
